Oak Button block in Minecraft
The Oak Button is a wooden button: press it and it sends a short redstone pulse to the block it is attached to and to the components around it. It is made from Oak Planks, cut from the oak, the most widespread tree of the Overworld, which grows everywhere from plains to forests and swamps.
It is made with the Crafting Table from Oak Planks. It is mined with an axe. As fuel it burns for 5 seconds in a Furnace, enough to smelt 0.5 items.
What it does
A wooden button stays pressed for a moment, a little longer than a Stone Button, then pops back out on its own. That makes it the simple way to open a door for a few seconds, fire a Dispenser once or start a piston contraption without leaving a Lever switched on.
Unlike stone buttons, wooden ones also react to projectiles. An Arrow or a thrown Trident that hits the button presses it and keeps it pressed for as long as it stays stuck there, so a single shot can hold a door open. The burst of a Wind Charge presses buttons too, which lets you trigger a mechanism from a distance.
A button can be placed on the side of a block, on top of it or underneath it. It powers the block it sits on, so a redstone line can start behind that block as well as next to the button.
Buttons made from Overworld wood can also be burned in a furnace as a small fuel. Those made from crimson or warped stems, the woods of the Nether, never burn.
