End Highlands biome in Minecraft
The End Highlands are the high central parts of the outer End islands, beyond the void that surrounds the dragon's island. This is where chorus plants grow and where End Cities rise, with shulkers, loot and the elytra. It is the main destination of any trip through an End gateway.

Structures in the End Highlands
What you find in the End Highlands
The highlands are the tallest parts of the outer islands: wide plateaus of End Stone, surrounded by the lower End Midlands and then by the End Barrens at the edges. The only plants are Chorus Plants, twisted purple stalks several blocks tall that grow from End Stone and end in a Chorus Flower. The only mob that spawns naturally is the Enderman: shulkers only live in the cities.
Harvesting chorus
Break a Chorus Plant near the base and everything above it falls apart, dropping Chorus Fruit. Eating one teleports you a few blocks away at random, handy to escape a fight. Cooked in a furnace, it becomes Popped Chorus Fruit, which crafts Purpur Blocks and, with a blaze rod, End Rods. To grow your own, plant a Chorus Flower on End Stone.
End Cities and the way home
An End City can generate here or in the midlands: purple towers guarded by the Shulker, whose bullets make you float with Levitation. Two Shulker Shells and a chest craft a shulker box, the best storage you can carry: it keeps its contents when you break it. Some cities come with an End Ship that holds Elytra in an item frame.
Rarely, an End gateway generates on its own in the highlands, floating a few blocks above the ground. It takes you straight back to the arrival platform of the central island, a useful shortcut if you lost the gateway you came through.

How do you get back from the End Highlands?
Go back through the gateway you arrived from, or use one of the rare gateways that generate in the highlands. Both lead to the central island, where the exit portal takes you home.
Can chorus plants grow in the Overworld?
Yes, as long as the Chorus Flower is planted on End Stone. Take a few End Stone blocks home along with the flowers.
Which mobs spawn in the End Highlands?
