End Barrens biome in Minecraft
The End Barrens are the low, bare edges of the outer End islands, where the land thins out before the void. No plants grow here and no structure generates, so they are mostly ground you cross between the richer End Highlands and Midlands. Watch your step: the void is never far.

Where the Barrens lie
The outer islands drop from the End Highlands in the center to the End Midlands, then to the Barrens at the edges. Beyond them, only the scattered islets of the Small End Islands float in the void. The ground is End Stone that thins out toward the drop.
What the Barrens offer
Almost nothing: the biome has no feature and no structure of its own. The only mob is the Enderman, so it is a quiet spot to build a bridge toward another island or a platform with a view. If an Enderman turns on you, step into a shelter two blocks high: at almost three blocks tall, it cannot follow you inside. The End Stone here is worth mining too, since it resists explosions better than ordinary stone. If you see a Chorus Plant or an End City from here, it belongs to the next biome.
Crossing the edges safely
Sneak while you bridge, so you can't walk off the edge, and keep a stack of blocks in your hotbar. Once you have found a city, an Elytra with Firework Rockets makes island hopping much easier than walking.
