Tall Grass block in Minecraft
Tall Grass is a two-block grass that grows from short grass with bone meal. Grass and ferns are filler plants that make landscapes look lush. Grass and ferns work the same; the Short Grass page explains them.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests. It can be composted: each one has a 50% chance to add a layer to a Composter.

How do you get Tall Grass in Minecraft?
Mining the block gives Wheat Seeds, not the block itself. It can be found as loot in Village.

Yes. Each Tall Grass put in a Composter has a 50% chance to add a layer (the first layer in an empty Composter always works). After 7 layers the Composter gives Bone Meal.
Can a piston move Tall Grass?
No: when a piston pushes it, it breaks and drops as an item.
Does Tall Grass burn?
Yes: fire can spread to it and destroy it, and lava nearby can set it alight.
