Redstone basics in Minecraft: dust, repeater, comparator, observer
A Redstone Repeater (2 Redstone Torches, 1 Redstone Dust, 3 Stone) only passes the signal in the direction of its arrow, and always sends it out at strength 15.

A Redstone Repeater carries a signal in one direction, restores it to full strength and can delay it.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 2 × Redstone Torch, 3 × Stone and Redstone Dust.
Three stone, two redstone torches and a redstone dust make one. Use it to cycle its delay through four settings, and it boosts a weak signal back to maximum. Powering it from the side with another repeater or a comparator locks its current state, a simple memory for circuits.
2 × Redstone Torch + Redstone Dust + 3 × Stone → Redstone Repeater
// Slots with several items cycle through every accepted option.
A Redstone Repeater (2 Redstone Torches, 1 Redstone Dust, 3 Stone) only passes the signal in the direction of its arrow, and always sends it out at strength 15.
Under the second dust's block, place a Redstone Repeater pointing toward the hoppers, sitting on its own block (layers 1 and 2).
Behind that block, in the corridor wall, place a Redstone Comparator pointing away from the wall, then a Redstone Repeater in front of it, then a solid block (layer 5).

At the Crafting Table: 2 × Redstone Torch, 3 × Stone and 1 × Redstone Dust give 1 × Redstone Repeater. Mining the block drops it.
It boosts, delays and directs redstone signals.
No: when a piston pushes it, it breaks and drops as an item.
