/save-on command in Minecraft

/save-on turns automatic saving back on after /save-off. Run it as soon as your backup is finished, otherwise the server keeps running without writing anything to disk. It needs level 4 and only exists on dedicated servers.

Syntax

/save-on

// Only on a dedicated server: the command does not exist in single player or in a world opened to LAN.

Closing the backup routine

The server answers Automatic saving is now enabled, or Saving is already turned on if saving was never disabled. /save-on does not save by itself: changes are written at the next automatic save. To write them right away, follow up with /save-all.

A backup script usually runs /save-off, then save-all flush, copies the world and ends with /save-on. If a script fails halfway, check that this last step really ran. Until then, a crash would lose everything since the last save.
