Charged creeper
/summon creeper ~ ~ ~ {powered:1b}A creeper wrapped in electricity whose explosion is much stronger. Keep your distance.

With /summon and a little data in curly brackets, you can create mobs the game never spawns by itself, or trigger its hidden name tricks. Every command here uses simple data that works in the current version.
/summon creeper ~ ~ ~ {powered:1b}A creeper wrapped in electricity whose explosion is much stronger. Keep your distance.
/summon zombie ~ ~ ~ {IsBaby:1b}A small zombie that is faster than an adult and hard to hit.
/summon chicken ~ ~ ~ {Passengers:[{id:"minecraft:zombie",IsBaby:1b}]}A baby zombie riding a chicken, a rare sight in survival.
/summon sheep ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"jeb_"}The name jeb_ makes the wool cycle through every color.
/summon pig ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Dinnerbone"}The name Dinnerbone flips any mob on its head.
/summon rabbit ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Toast"}This name gives the rabbit a special black and white coat.
/summon vindicator ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Johnny"}Named Johnny, the vindicator attacks almost every mob around it.
/summon villager ~ ~ ~ {NoAI:1b,Invulnerable:1b,CustomName:"Statue"}A villager that never moves and cannot be hurt outside Creative, for a market or a display.
/summon wolf ~ ~ ~ {Glowing:1b,CustomName:"Rex",CustomNameVisible:1b}A wolf visible through walls with its name always displayed.
/summon giant ~ ~ ~ {NoAI:1b}A huge zombie that only exists through commands.
/summon illusionerAn illager that never spawns naturally, with blindness and illusion spells.
/summon lightning_bolt ~ ~ ~5Calls lightning five blocks south of you, even in clear weather.
/summon needs cheats on or operator level 2. ~ ~ ~ spawns the mob where you stand; change it to ~ ~ ~5 to keep a safe distance. The data between curly brackets sets details: IsBaby:1b for a baby, NoAI:1b to freeze it, Invulnerable:1b to protect it, CustomName to name it.
/kill @e[type=giant].Old tutorials write names as '{"text":"Bob"}'; a plain "Bob" is enough now. Unable to summon entity often means the data is invalid, and Invalid position for summon that the spot is outside the world.

Add {NoAI:1b}: the mob stays still, does not turn its head and ignores players. Add Invulnerable:1b so it cannot be killed by accident.
Yes, with CustomName in the summon data, for example {CustomName:"Bob"}. Add CustomNameVisible:1b to show it all the time.
