Kill your own player
/killWithout a target, you are the one who dies. Handy when you are stuck.

The /kill command removes entities at once: mobs, dropped items, projectiles, armor stands or players. Without a target it kills you. It is the fastest way to clear lag caused by piles of items, reset a test area or get out of a spot where you are stuck.

/kill @e[type=minecraft:item]Removes every item lying on the ground in loaded chunks, a quick fix for lag.
/kill @e[type=!minecraft:player]Mobs, items, armor stands and minecarts disappear; players stay.
/kill @e[type=minecraft:zombie,distance=..20]Only zombies within 20 blocks are killed.
/kill @e[tag=boss]Kills only the entities you marked with /tag ... add boss.

Command generator/kill @e removes every loaded entity, players included, along with item frames, armor stands, minecarts and pets. Always add a filter. type=!minecraft:player spares players, distance=..20 limits the radius and tag= targets entities marked with /tag.
/kill uses a damage type that bypasses invulnerability. Players in Creative mode die too, and a Totem of Undying does not save anyone. A killed player drops the inventory as with any other death, unless keep_inventory is on.
/kill @e[type=minecraft:item] clears dropped items and reduces lag./kill @e[type=minecraft:zombie,distance=..20] cleans a test area./kill alone gets you out when you are stuck, at the cost of a trip back from your spawn. When you test with /summon, give each summoned entity a tag so that the cleanup removes nothing else. With /execute you can kill based on conditions, for example only the entities standing on a certain block. The answer "Killed ..." or "Killed ... entities" tells you how many were removed.

Yes. /kill bypasses invulnerability, so it works in Creative mode and a Totem of Undying does not prevent the death.
Target only items with /kill @e[type=minecraft:item]. Mobs, players and other entities are left untouched.
Type it in the chat with cheats on: /kill [<targets>].
