Alternate Polished Diorite and Polished Deepslate.

Polished Deepslate is cobbled deepslate smoothed into a clean, dark gray block with a fine texture. Four cobbled deepslate make four, and it is the step between raw deepslate and its bricks and tiles.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 4 × Cobbled Deepslate (other recipes also exist). It is mined with a pickaxe.
It is crafted from Cobbled Deepslate in a two-by-two square, or cut on a Stonecutter from deepslate or cobbled deepslate without any loss. It has its own slabs, stairs and walls, so you can build an entire room in it.
Four polished deepslate in turn make four Deepslate Bricks, and the bricks lead to Deepslate Tiles. On a stonecutter, polished deepslate goes straight to any of these. Ancient cities use it in their floors and walls, so you will meet it when exploring the deep dark.
Like the rest of the family it is hard to mine but resists explosions as well as stone, and it keeps its look when mined without Silk Touch.
4 × Cobbled Deepslate → 4 × Polished Deepslate
Cobbled Deepslate → Polished Deepslate

Alternate Polished Diorite and Polished Deepslate.
At the Crafting Table: 4 × Cobbled Deepslate give 4 × Polished Deepslate. At the Stonecutter: 1 × Cobbled Deepslate gives 1 × Polished Deepslate. Mining the block drops it.
It is a smooth dark building block and the step toward deepslate bricks and tiles. It is an ingredient in 11 recipes, made at the Stonecutter and Crafting Table; for example Deepslate Bricks, Deepslate Tile Slab, Deepslate Tile Stairs, Deepslate Tile Wall, Deepslate Tiles and 3 more.
The fastest tool is the pickaxe.
No difference: the Stonecutter turns 1 × Cobbled Deepslate into 1 × Polished Deepslate, the same rate as the crafting recipe (4 × Cobbled Deepslate for 4).
Placed under a Note Block, Polished Deepslate gives the Bass drum sound.
