A crossbow hits hard and keeps its shot loaded until you fire, so the first shot of a fight is always instant. The weakness is the reload between shots. Quick Charge III more than halves it, which brings the crossbow close to the rhythm of a bow.
The enchantment changes nothing else: damage, range and accuracy stay the same. The game counts it whether the crossbow is in your main hand or your offhand.
What to combine it with
Quick Charge has no exclusivity. Add Multishot for three projectiles per shot, or Piercing for lines of mobs, then Unbreaking III and Mending. Fast reloads make firework rocket volleys much more practical. The best crossbow enchantments build starts with Quick Charge III.
Getting Quick Charge III
The enchanting table offers it, but often at a low level. Combine two Quick Charge II books on an anvil, or buy a Quick Charge III book from a librarian.
