Redstone basics in Minecraft: dust, repeater, comparator, observer
Swap the lamp for a Note Block or a Piston and you have a sound alarm or an overflow switch.

The Note Block plays a musical note when you hit it or when it receives a redstone signal. Right-clicking raises the pitch one step at a time, across two octaves, and the block underneath decides which instrument you hear.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 8 × Oak Planks (or another variant) and Redstone Dust. It is mined with an axe. As fuel it burns for 15 seconds in a Furnace, enough to smelt 1.5 items.
The instrument comes from the block below: wood gives a bass, sand or gravel a snare drum, glass clicks, stone a bass drum, gold a bell, clay a flute, packed ice chimes, wool a guitar, a bone block a xylophone and a block of iron an iron xylophone. Soul sand, pumpkins, emerald blocks, hay bales and glowstone have their own sounds too; anything else plays a harp.
A note block only sounds if the space above it is empty. Placing a mob head on top instead makes it play that mob's sound, from a creeper's hiss to a dragon's roar. Chains of note blocks linked by repeaters, with delays set between them, are how players compose songs in the game.
An Allay that hears a note block stays close to it for a while and drops the items it collects there, which is the basis of allay sorting systems. Delivering a cake to a note block with an allay is even an advancement.

It plays notes and instruments with redstone or a hit, and attracts allays to drop items near it.
The fastest tool is the axe.
Yes. In a Furnace it burns for 15 seconds, enough to smelt 1.5 items.
