How to redeem a Minecraft cape code
Enter a cape code on minecraft.net/redeem with the right Microsoft account, avoid the usual errors and confirm the cape arrived.

Event, stream and promotion capes arrive as codes. A code does nothing until you redeem it on the account you play with.
Sign in with the right Microsoft account
The cape goes to the account you are signed in with on minecraft.net, not to the one on the device where you received the code. If you have several Microsoft accounts, check which one owns Minecraft before you continue.
Enter the code on minecraft.net/redeem
- Open minecraft.net/redeem in a browser.
- Sign in when the site asks you to.
- Type or paste the code exactly as you received it.
- Confirm. A message tells you which reward was added.
Fix the common errors
| Message or problem | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Code already redeemed | Someone, maybe you on another account, used it first. Codes work only once. |
| Code not valid or expired | Check for typos (0 and O, 1 and I). Promotion codes stop working after their deadline, often around two weeks after the campaign ends. |
| Redeemed, but no cape in the list | You were signed in with another account. Sign out of minecraft.net and of the Launcher, then sign in with the account you play with. |
| Region not supported | Some stream campaigns are limited to certain countries. The code itself cannot fix that. |
Equip the new cape
A redeemed cape is owned, not worn. Select it in the Launcher or the Dressing Room: how to equip or change your cape.
Confirm that it worked
Once equipped, check your username here. The checker shows what Mojang's servers send to other players.
Type a Java Edition username to see the skin and the cape Mojang’s servers actually send to other players.
Only the cape currently equipped is public. Data from Mojang, through PlayerDB when Mojang’s API is unavailable, cached for 5 minutes.
FAQ
Where do I find my cape code?
It depends on the promotion: in your Twitch Drops inventory, in TikTok's LIVE rewards, in an email after a live event, or on a printed card.
Can I give my cape code to a friend?
A code that has not been redeemed can be used by any account, but most promotions forbid reselling codes. Once redeemed, the cape cannot be transferred.
How long does a cape take to appear?
Usually a few minutes. Restart the Minecraft Launcher or the game if it does not show up in the cape list.
