Terracotta block in Minecraft
Terracotta is clay hardened in a furnace, with a warm brownish-orange color. It covers whole hillsides in the badlands, and with dyes it becomes the sixteen-color palette of stained terracotta.
It is obtained in the Furnace from Clay. It is mined with a pickaxe.
What it does
Smelt a Clay block and you get one terracotta. Eight terracotta around a dye give eight stained terracotta blocks, and smelting a stained terracotta gives glazed terracotta, a patterned tile whose motif rotates with the way you face when placing it.
Terracotta has a matte, earthy texture that suits roofs, desert builds and pixel art, and it resists explosions better than wood or dirt. The badlands are the easiest source: their stripes are made of natural terracotta in several colors, ready to mine with a pickaxe.
On a smithing table, terracotta is also the block used to copy the host armor trim template.
