Egg item in Minecraft
The Egg is laid by a chicken every few minutes. Thrown, it can hatch a chick; in recipes, it goes into cakes and pumpkin pies. This white egg comes from the common temperate chickens, and the chicks it hatches are temperate too.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests.
What it does
Throw an egg and it breaks on impact; one throw in eight hatches a baby chicken, and in rare cases four chicks at once. Egg-throwing next to a hopper-fed dispenser is the classic chicken farm. Eggs stack only to sixteen.
In crafting, any egg works for a Cake or a Pumpkin Pie. Fletcher houses in villages sometimes keep eggs in their chests, and trial chamber dispensers can throw them at you.
